The Nevers Magny-Cours Circuit, owned by the Conseil Général de la Nièvre, is a vast complex hosting several tracks, reception areas and coference rooms.

Directions:

The Circuit is located 15 km (10 miles) south west of Nevers, capital city of the Nièvre, Burgundy ; a charming city listed "of artistic and historical" interest, on the banks of the river Loire, halfway between Paris and Lyon.

N81 to Autun then head towards Château-Chinon and then Nevers

History:

The circuit is by definition geared to motor sports, but it is also a well-equipped site for company meetings, seminar and congresses. The Nevers Magny-Cours Circuit, owned by the Conseil Général de la Nièvre, is a vast complex hosting several tracks and reception areas, conference rooms and restaurants.

Motorsports have become a local tradition in Magny-Cours! Since it was set up 40 years ago, the small karting track evolved rapidly into a race track of national status hosting the first driving school in France (the Winfield school), and then it gained its international reputation with the arrival of the French F1 Grand Prix in 1991.

Important dates:
1959: opening of the first karting track in Magny-Cours, initiated by Jean Bernigaud, Mayor of Magny-Cours and owner of the land.
1961: official inauguration of the Jean Behra track (2 km) in Magny-Cours.
1971: inauguration of the extended Jean Behra track (3.850 km).
1988: complete modification of the Jean Behra track.
On November, 18th, the French President at time, François Mitterand, visited the new track which was authorized to host F1 competitions (more land acquired for the track and the building of an adjoining technological business park).
1989: inauguration of the new Never Magny-Cours Circuit, which from then on would organize the French F1 Grand Prix.
1991: first French F1 Grand Prix on the Nevers Magny-Cours Circuit (more than a 100,000 spectators on July, 7th).
1993: the Conseil Général de la Nièvre handed over full management and the complete exploitation of the Nevers Magny-Cours to the ACNMC.
1994: opening of the Nevers Magny-Cours karting track.
1995: the buildings at the Circuit were redesigned and renovated.
1997: the Circuit extended its facilities with the Visiocenter (a conference room with a wall of video monitors).
2000: creation of a new track dedicaced exclusively to driving courses, the "Piste Club".
2003: alterations to the "Grand Prix" track and the building of new facilities for the "Piste Club".
2004: the FFSA (the French Federation of Motorsport) became in charge of organizing and promoting the F1 Grand Prix.
Gérard Dumas was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board.
2005: the Nevers Magny-Cours Circuit now hosts 4 international events: the World Touring Car Championship, the French F1 Grand Prix, the Bol d'Or and the Superbike World Championship.
2006: 5 international meetings this season - a new date for the French GP: 14,15, et 16 July
2007 : a new meeting will take place at fall WORLD SERIES BY RENAULT - 22 and 23 September

About the Circuit:
The Nevers Magny-Cours Circuit is open to the public from 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week.
You are free to walk around when there are no events with admission fee taking place: you can visit the stands, find gifts at the boutique or find out about the history of French Formula 1 racing at the Ligier Museum.
Have lunch at the restaurant and have fun on the karting track, a great activity for everyone between the age of 7 and 77!

The "Grand Prix" track
This is the track for professionals in motorsports (cars and bikes), which has hosted the French F1 Grand Prix since 1991, and the Bol d'Or since 2000. The track which is constantly updated was re-designed in 2003 and now used for a wide range of events: for both cars and bikes, whether for sport, commercial use or just for fun.

- lighting on the track
- 9 km of security lanes on both sides of the track
- permanent medical center
- 40,000 m2 paddock
- H1 heliport with 3 landing pads, 2 for medical use only
- H2 heliport with 120 landing pads
- complete video-controlled of the track, non-stop recording and image storage for up to 4 days
- remote-controlled installation of lights and markings on the track, 20 warning lights in case of incidents, making it possible to neutralize the track completely
- 90,000 spectators (maximum capacity 148,000)
-sophisticated breakdown service for both tracks, high-capacity sweeper truck
